DIAGNOSING THE WINTER TRITICALE DIE OFF

It was very evident that there was a problem with some of the triticale that was planted in the fall of 2024.  I have spent a lot of time gathering information by talking to other industry professionals of what the problems could have been.  Talking with all of these individuals has resulted in gathering a large quantity of information.  I have spent the last 6 weeks trying to find a suitable way to pass this information on to you but each time I attempt to work on it, I get overwhelmed of not knowing where to start and when to stop.  So this morning I decided to just make it simple and straight to the point.

 

The five variables that my have caused problems are:

1. Disease

2. Manure salts

3. Compaction and water logged soils

4. Planting date

5. Cold—Weather Injury
